Where is human nature so weak as in the bookstore? - Henry Ward Beecher

To feel most beautifully alive means to be reading something beautiful,
ready always to apprehend in the flow of language the sudden flash of poetry.
-Gaston Bachelard

Read not to contradict and confute; nor to believe and take for granted;
nor to find talk and discourse; but to weigh and consider.
Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed,
and some few to be chewed and digested:
that is, some books are to be read only in parts,
others to be read, but not curiously, and some few
to be read wholly, and with diligence and attention.
~ Francis Bacon

You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture.
Just get people to stop reading them.
~ Ray Bradbury ~

I do have to wonder if being a nude housekeeper pays more than being a clothed one. There must be some compensation for the possibility of getting nonbodily fluids in your cavities. That must sting.

I don't know about AA. Drinking is not something out of control for me, except on certain weekend nights, where the line was never drawn and got passed anyway. Besides, our big bad fights are so ridiculous and later hilarious that I'm not so worried. But the morning after always smarts.
